MARQUETTE COUNTY, Mich. (WZMQ) – Today’s snowfall has left slick roads and snow banks around the Upper Peninsula.
The Marquette County Road Commission began plowing roads at 11 p.m. The overnight crews stayed on until 10 this morning and then a second shift of drivers took over and are continuing to plow the roads.
As of this morning Marquette county had over 30 plows on the streets and a team of over 50 drivers. According to the director of operations at the road commission routes varied based upon the amount of snowfall found on roads.
“All hands on deck, we have the mechanics on plows as well, we will plow snow until its gone” Ross Olsen, the Director of Operations went on to say “We have designated plow routes, so if there is no snow they will go and help other plow drivers.”
Olsen said that crews were prepared for the snowfall and will continue to plow roads until they are clear.
