MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – This past Saturday, March 18, was the comeback for a fan-favorite event– Cause for Paws.
This event is an annual fundraiser for the Upper Peninsula Animal Welfare Shelter to raise money for furry friends and a chance for the community to come together.
This event was an annual celebration until COVID-19 halted it. This event has a raffle with prizes from stuff for your pets to an oil change for your car. Multiple local businesses provided the prizes, and all the money goes to anything the animals at UPAWS may need.
The event had food for all the guests to enjoy as they bid on the prizes. There were also little games scattered around: spin the wheel and a photo booth. This event meant the world to the staff of UPAWS as well as all those who supported it.
“We have wonderful, caring staff. We have a fantastic board of directors and so many amazing volunteers that can just get all these great things together and just party for the pets,” said fundraising board mem Andi Goriesky.
UPAWS wanted to thank all those who came out and supported them. If you are interested in future fundraisers, check out the UPAWS website.
