SCHOOLCRAFT COUNTY, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Schoolcraft County Sheriff’s Office is advising residents to use caution following reports of scam callers claiming to be from the department.
“We are getting reports of multiple scams coming from the Sheriff’s Office,” the department wrote in a Facebook post. “These calls range from ‘you have a warrant’ to offering to take a payment over the phone.”
The Sheriff’s Office says it does not call those with warrants or take payments over the phone. Residents are warned not to provide any personal or financial information over the phone and to hang up if they are suspicious.
Anyone who may have received a scam call is encouraged to report the incident to the Schoolcraft County Sheriff’s Office by calling (906) 341-2122.
