MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – A local cannabis shop is giving the UP community a chance to highlight nonprofits.
Kindling Community is an initiative The Fire Station started, allowing the public to vote on nonprofits in their county that they think would most benefit from the fire station’s support. The Women’s Center, UPAWS, and Room at the Inn are just three of the 14 organizations that people can vote on.
Voting for this initiative will be going on until February 25th. The Firestation will donate $1,000 to the top six non-profits. The non-profit with the second most votes per county will receive a $500 donation.
Since the forum was sent out Monday, February 19th, TFS has already received around 400 votes.
“It does come down to collaboration my favorite part of my job is having grown up in Marquette and giving back to the communities that I grew up in and around. You are part of the reason that this nonprofit that you believe in received these funds I thought that would be a really special feeling for a lot of people,” commented The Fire Station Marketing and Public Relations Specialist Lauren Rotundo.
