ISHPEMING, Mich. (WZMQ) – Local businesses in Ishpeming are seeing some assistance with a new grant program allowing owners to invest more in downtown Ishpeming.
Through the Facade Improvement Grant Program, business owners in the city of Ishpeming can take advantage of up to $10,000 to put towards the new entrances, ADA-compliant bathrooms, or anything else to excite new customer traffic.
This comes just after Ishpeming’s downtown development authority finished paying a mortgage that was covering Malton Rd. The city hopes it will add new additions to the downtown that might attract new business.
“67 % of the people that move to a town move there because they visited that town ahead of time and they found or discovered something about that town that got them excited about it well if that’s the same case with businesses or if they’re looking for a certain niche in a market,” commented Ishpeming City Manager Craig Cugini.
