NEGAUNEE, Mich. (WZMQ) – The warmer season may have canceled snow-reliant events but the melting conditions certainly opened up new opportunities for other organizations to secure a spot in the Meijer State Games.
Negaunee Rod and Gun Club hosted a shooting competition. Shooters were using a 22-millimeter rim fire bullet, hitting as many targets in the center up to 50 yards away. Organizers noted that the biggest obstacle for shooters is typically the wind, and that was no different for competition day.
“The biggest challenge is is a lot of guys look at a 22 is something you take out to camp and shoot cans with that 25 yards we’re taking the same guns we’re shooting at 50 yards with the bulls I have about 3/4 of an inch at a factory,” commented Competition Organizer Jon Heikkila.
