MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – A Marquette local nonprofit is looking to fill the stands at Lakeview Arena for its cancer-fighting hockey game. A fundraiser game with the theme, “Cancer Walks the Plank.”
The game is hosted by the Cancer Care for Marquette County and scheduled for Saturday, February 3rd, at 7 PM at the Lakeview Arena.
The game will feature two UP teams, the Marquette Mutineers taking on the Calumet Wolverines, at Lakeview Arena. Raffle baskets will be available for purchase.
All proceeds are going back to CCMC to help fight cancer. Organizers say they hope the “Walk the Plank” theme brings in a large crowd to cheer on the Mutineers and support those battling through treatment.
“People who need help and then I thought it would be just kind of be a good way to get people to watch the Mutineers, it’s good ole fashioned hockey and these guys work hard it’s a fun event,” commented Cancer Care for Marquette County Volunteer Board Member Barbara Salmela.
