NEGAUNEE, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Christmas tradition of generosity was warming up the community in Negaunee this morning. Starting at 9 am, volunteers from St. Vincent de Paul, Negaunee Elks, and Super One were handing out Christmas baskets to families in need. Baskets were filled with toys for tots donations, Christmas dinners, and handmade mittens and hats for those who weren’t able to afford them.
Volunteers said even though they can see the positive impact on the community, it yearly teaches them a lesson of humility and gratefulness.
“We have 47 baskets with 45 children and we have one special basket from our women of steel with the steelworkers they adopt one of our families and they do amazing work in the community and they do something very special today for that family,” commented St. Vincent de Paul Volunteer Kathy Carlson.
