MARQUETTE, Mich, (WZMQ) – The UP Regional Blood Center held a holiday blood drive on Tuesday to help offset the decrease in donations over the holidays.
The UPRBC is the sole blood provider for 13 UP hospitals and is always looking for donations, especially from A- and O- blood types.
UPRBC Blood Donor Services Manager Dana Langsford says donations are the only way for them to get the blood they need.
“There is no artificial substitute for it,” said Langsford. “If you need blood there’s only one way to get it and that’s through volunteer blood donation, and we are the local supplier in the UP so if you need blood in the UP it’s going to come from the UP Regional Blood Center.”
If you didn’t get a chance to donate the UPRBC is open Monday-Thursday from 8a.m. to 4p.m. and Friday from 7a.m. to 4p.m. Click here for more information.
