IRON MOUNTAIN, Mich. (WZMQ) – Around 300 eager individuals enthusiastically rushed to the new ALDI Grocery Store, a 20,664 square foot grocery haven situated on a 4.63-acre lot. With a line of enthusiastic customers wrapping around the new ALDI parking lot, the community gathered for the grand opening. The event was graced by the presence of the city’s Mayor and City Manager, who joined in a ribbon-cutting ceremony to officially welcome the value-packed addition to Iron Mountain.
District Manager Paul Allen, radiating enthusiasm, remarked, “I feel like people are really excited. I feel like, a lot of individuals have been traveling to maybe Marinette or Escanaba to shop at ALDI, so they may already be familiar with us. So, I feel like a lot of people are excited to have us in their own backyard.”
The store, flaunting 12,590 square feet of grocery retail space, awarded the first 100 shoppers with golden tickets worth up to $100. Additionally, residents aged 18 and up have until December 17th to enter a sweepstakes for a chance to win a $500 ALDI gift card.
Adding to the jubilation, Allen remarked, “We’re excited to bring ALDI to the Iron Mountain community, where our customers’ dollar goes a long way with us.”
Underlining their commitment to affordability, Allen detailed the store’s prices on staples: eggs at $1.65, a gallon of milk at $2.68, Friendly Farms half gallon 1% milk at $1.62, Simply Nature organic eggs at $3.93, and Countryside Creamers ‘Sweet Cream Butter’ 16 oz for $2.99 (limit 6), putting butter at 18.7 cents per oz.
The store’s efficient business model, with practices like customers bringing shopping bags and lending quarters for carts, so ALDI employees don’t have to chase carts all the time, reflects their commitment to savings. Allen noted, “We always try to meet or exceed our competition’s price.”
Addressing convenience, Allen highlighted, “We offer deliveries through Instacart, where an Instacart Shopper will shop their groceries here, and bring them to your home. Customers can also place an order for pickup.” Instacart is available now, and the store will roll out its curbside service on January 9th.
ALDI in Iron Mountain, open every day from 9:00 a.m. to 8:00 p.m. central time, aims to meet customer demands with weekly ads starting on Wednesdays. Allen emphasized, “Our ads have prices on hot-ticket items, and are mailed out to people’s homes.”
For holiday shoppers, ALDI is currently featuring a special in their weekly ad – a spiral sliced half-ham from Appleton Farms at $1.69 per lb. Allen also shed light on the ever-changing “ALDI Finds” section, offering new products every Wednesday while supplies last.
As Iron Mountain continues to buzz with the newfound ALDI Grocery Store, the community eagerly anticipates the continued value and convenience the store promises to bring.
