MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – Now through October 31st, there is a gold box outside Bennett Media Group on Washington street in downtown Marquette, Dis ‘n Dat in Gwinn & Jimmy John’s of Marquette. We will be collecting warm outdoor apparel donations there. You can leave your donations right outside the door!
On Saturday, November 4th, from 10am – 5pm, anyone can come “shop” the donations along the fence and through the park to take what you need to stay warm. The clothing will be hung in the outdoor park area of Sandy Knoll Elementary. There will be no media present, no photos of “shoppers”. Come down between 10am until 5 PM. We will return to collect whatever donations remain and bring them to Goodwill.
Please help us by donating your gently used, or new, winter apparel. Please do not donate dirty, torn or broken items. (Zippers, etc..)
You can donate:
Winter hats, gloves/mittens, warm socks, jackets, boots, snow pants/suits, scarves, etc..
You can also volunteer to help. We will be organizing the clothing at 6 PM at Bennett Media Group on Thursday, November 2. On Saturday, November 4. We are looking for volunteers to come from 9 AM to 10 AM to help set up the clothing for our shoppers. We will allow any early shopping this year.
