ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – On Sunday, dogs donned their best spooky costumes for Delta Animal Shelter’s annual “Howl-O-Ween Pawty.”
Dogs and their owners walked the shelter’s pumpkin-lined trail, played games, and enjoyed some yummy treats. D&D Dog Dynamics provided mini massages. The highlight was the costume contest, with dogs dressed in a variety of outfits including sheep, lions, dragons, bats, and Star Wars characters.
“There are so many parties that are just geared towards the humans, so if we can do stuff to include the pets too, I think that’s awesome,” said Shelter Operations Coordinator Vonnie Bruce. “A lot of times, people will bring their shelter dogs that have been adopted from us, so it’s really great for us to be able to see them.”
The “Howl-O-Ween Pawty” also featured bucket raffles, and the cost to attend was $10 per family. Bruce says that money will go toward shelter operations throughout the year.
