MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – Coming up this weekend is one of the many events igniting the artistry around the UP. It’s the Fresh Coast Film Festival featuring over 80 films from creators around the UP. While many see this as an opportunity to watch films created by local producers, it also gives creators the chance to meet with others in the industry and network.
Filmmakers believe that Marquette has always been a catapult for local creators and that the festival just helps amplify that.
“I think it’s inevitable that more film productions are going to come to the UP and as long as outside productions choose to integrate local labor and local creators, it’s a win-win,” commented Filmmaker Nels Lindquist.
