ISHPEMING, Mich. (WZMQ) – The U.P. Luge club hit the hill over the weekend as it prepares for the winter season to begin.
Instead of snow, lugers took turns steaming down asphalt Saturday. The event was a chance for the club to recruit new members and introduce the sport to people who have never had the chance to experience it.
According to the club luge might seem intimidating but they provide everything you need in order to give the sport a try.
“When the time comes, you will learn how to do the turns, how to break, it’s a walkthrough basically, anybody can do it,” remarked Zane Farnsworth, a Luger with the club.
The luge season will start at the end of December weather permitting. More information on the club can be found here.
