LIMESTONE TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZMQ) – An Alger County man died after his house exploded last week.
The Alger County Sheriff’s Office says on August 24, authorities were called to a house explosion in Limestone Township.
The homeowner, 74-year-old Randall Bertram, was at home when a propane stove exploded when he attempted to light it. Bertram was significantly injured, and his house and vehicle caught fire as well.
Bertram then walked a mile to his neighbor’s house to report the incident.
Bertram was eventually taken to UP Health System- Marquette for treatment, where he later died of his injuries.
Rock River Township Fire, Rock River EMS, Alger County EMS, and the Alger County Sheriff’s Office all responded.
The Michigan State Police Fire investigator was contacted for further investigation.
