IRON MOUNTAIN, Mich. (WZMQ) – In Dickinson County, as school districts geared up for students’ return next week, educators were busy with preparations that aligned with students’ career aspirations.
Iron Mountain High School took a proactive approach this year by reintroducing mock interviews for its senior class. The school’s Senior Class Advisor, Marcus Celello, stated, “We always survey the students first, to see what their interests are, and then we try to the best of our abilities to find local businesses that match up with that, and the medical field by far was in the most demand.”
The school is gearing up for an innovative Career Fair to provide its senior class with insights into various industries, set to take place this spring during the junior class’s state testing week. Over the years, the fair has witnessed participation from local industry giants such as First National Bank, Range Bank, MJ Electric, and Systems Control. This year, a novel approach is on the horizon as Bellin Health Systems and Marshfield Clinic are poised to host informative breakout sessions for students, delving into the world of the medical field.
In a recent career survey conducted at the school, it was revealed that approximately one-third of the students expressed a keen interest in pursuing a career in the medical field. With such a strong demand, the educators and local businesses hope to ensure that the upcoming Career Fair will be an immersive experience for the many students aspiring to make their mark in modern medicine.
