ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Delta County Chamber of Commerce is celebrating another successful U.P. State Fair.
After a full week of activities, the 95th annual U.P. State Fair wrapped up on Sunday, August 20. From the food and midway rides to games and livestock showings, there was plenty to do and see.
Chamber of Commerce Executive Director Vickie Micheau says aside from high winds on Wednesday, Escanaba had perfect fair weather all week long. Along with that nice weather, she credits a long list of free and affordable entertainment with this year’s high attendance numbers.
“It was about 5:00 yesterday afternoon and our accountants got in touch with us and said, ‘You’re just about ready to pass all of your previous attendance records,'” Micheau said. “We’re really excited about that and, of course, very thankful for the tremendous involvement of so many people.”
While vendors and exhibitors pack up and leave the fairgrounds, Micheau says the Chamber of Commerce is already looking forward to the 96th annual U.P. State Fair next summer.
