As the Northern Michigan football team continues to prepare for their season opener just 14 days away, first year head coach Shane Richardson has his sights set on turning around a program itching for success.
The Wildcats have not posted a winning season since 2009 when they went 6-4. For Richardson it all starts with establishing the culture and an identity in year one.
The Wildcats will have four non-conference games to get ready for conference play to start the season, when in Week 5 they travel to take on the reigning back-to-back Division 2 National Champions and preseason #1 Ferris State in Big Rapids. NMU’s season kicks off exactly two weeks from tonight with a trip to Minnesota Duluth.
