ISHPEMING, Mich. (WZMQ) – Ishpeming’s Downtown is seeing more support for new local businesses. In partnership with the City of Ishpeming, the Ishpeming DDA has announced a new Start-Up Assistance Grant aiding new local businesses in getting their doors open.
The new funding opportunity each year offers $2,500 to four applicants. This money can be used for building rent, business insurance, and other upfront costs when opening a business.
“Moving to Ishpeming we have a lot of older buildings whether it’s a house or a business there are always unexpected things that pop up so this grant can help them with those things like maybe you need to have a repair to the heating system or you need some electrical work done…defray some of those costs,” commented Vice Chair for Ishpeming Downtown Development Authority David Aro.
Along with the financial help, each recipient will be provided one-year paid memberships to the Lake Superior Community Partnership and the Greater Ishpeming-Negaunee Area Chamber of Commerce.
