DELTA COUNTY, Mich. (WZMQ) – After months of searching, Delta County finally has an administrator in place.
The Board of Commissioners selected Delta County Human Resources Specialist and Controller Ashleigh Young in a three-to-two vote.
Young has been serving as the interim administrator since February, when the former administrator was let go.
Despite some conflicting views among the board, Commissioner Steven Viau says he and the other members are looking forward to working with Young to make the best decisions for Delta County residents.
“I really want to concentrate on our jobs as commissioners and let Ashleigh make the decisions that she needs to make without any interference from us,” said Viau. “I think she’ll do a fine job, and I think we all have the same goal–what’s best for the county.
Young says after such a long process, she is glad to begin officially working as County Administrator.
“I know it was a very controversial topic, and I hope to show Delta County that I am willing and able to perform the duties of the county administrator,” she said.
Going forward, Viau says the board is looking to come to an agreement with Young on her compensation package.
