The Iron Mountain State Police Post is currently investigating a vandalism that occurred in late April in Iron County. Officers were asking anyone with information regarding the vandalism to contact the Iron Mountain State Police Post. The property damage occurred after 5 p.m. central on the 27th and before 10 a.m. central on the 28th.
“If they saw anybody on foot, or any vehicles stopped in the area, if they could please contact the Iron Mountain Post of the Michigan State Police, it would be greatly appreciated,” commented Sergeant Douglas Cole of Michigan State Police.
The yellow cross, which was covered with white spray paint, was located on the Bates-Amasa Road near Shady Lane in Bates Township. It was placed there in memory of the late Larry Leonarduzzi who was struck by a vehicle while conducting traffic control for the road commission at the site in January of 2021.
