ONTONAGON COUNTY, Mich. (WZMQ) – UPDATE: According to the Michigan State Police, Nante Niemi has been found safe. Niemi was safely located at 1:30 p.m. on Monday, May 8th by search party volunteers approximately two miles from his campsite and taking shelter under a log.
Niemi is healthy and has been reunited with his family.

A search is underway for a missing 8-year-old boy in the Porcupine Mountain Wilderness State Park. The boy, Nante Niemi, first went missing on Saturday afternoon while camping with his family. The family is from Wisconsin.
According to the Michigan State Police, the boy was walking back to the campsite by himself when he went missing.
Multiple local and state agencies are coordinating in the search, including K-9 and Search and Rescue teams. No additional resources or people are currently needed for the search.
Niemi is 4’2″ tall, with blonde hair and brown eyes, and was last seen wearing a white sweatshirt, gray sweatpants, and black boots.
