HOUGHTON, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Michigan Department of Transportation will begin more work on US-41 in Houghton starting May 1.
MDOT and the City of Houghton are investing about $9.6 million to rebuild 1.1 miles of the stretch of road that leads into the city. This year’s project will finish water and sewer work, grading, and restoration of the Franklin Square area.
Traffic will be maintained using lane shifts.
The ongoing project began in 2021 and is expected to be completed early June 2023.
The project is expected to improve vehicle and pedestrian safety and operations. MDOT estimates the project will directly and indirectly support 116 jobs.
