MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – UP paranormal investigators are sharing their stories about The Marquette Harbor Lighthouse. A Maritime Museum board member told her stories at The Ore Dock Brewing Company’s Maritime History On Tap event tonight.
Susan Hill gives tours at the museum, she talked about the lighthouses most famous ghosts, the wife of the lighthouses first keeper, a young boy named David, and Keeper Sayles, the lighthouse’s second keeper.
“This is my 6th year with The Maritime Museum and it evolved into getting their paranormal tour guide by accident.” Hill says, “I just had enough strange and unexplainable things happening that when we started doing paranormal tours I guess I was the logical choice for that.”
The lighthouse is a popular stop for u-p ghost hunters. Paranormal investigator Trish Kautz is an Ishpeming native who investigates paranormal activity across the Midwest. She first got into paranormal investigating when she witnessed activity within her own home. Susan Hill messaged her years ago to get her to come investigate the activity at the lighthouse.
“I’ve gotten to know the spirits in the lighthouse and so I feel like I would miss them if I didn’t go and at least visit them.” Kautz says, “I like telling the stories of the lighthouse and people just can’t believe it.”
This was the last Maritime History On Tap for the winter, but The Maritime Museum opens for the season on May 16th with paranormal tours happening once a month from May until September.
