Female Business Spotlight: Pam’s Petals

ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – In honor of Women’s History Month, WZMQ is highlighting female-owned businesses throughout March.

Pam’s Petals has offered a selection of flowers, plants, decorations, and gifts in Downtown Escanaba since 2017. However, manager Pam Frossard says she never imagined she would own a business before then.

“I worked at a greenhouse that was closing up, and the owner told me that I should start my own flower shop,” she said.

That simple suggestion launched a new career path for Frossard. One aspect of the career she loves is getting to put her creativity to use through floral arrangements.

“It’s fun to make my own things up instead of following a recipe,” Frossard said. “This is just a different way to be artistic.”

Frossard operates Pam’s Petals with her daughter and her son’s girlfriend. Her desire is to show them–as well as other young women in the community–that they can achieve anything they set their minds to.

“Girls need to know that they can do whatever they want to do; they can be whatever they want to be when they grow up,” said Frossard. “I hope I’ve instilled that in my own daughter. I just think it’s important for girls to know that they’re as good as everyone else.”

Frossard also hopes to bring a touch of happiness to the downtown area. That’s what she believes her arrangements do for each person who receives one.

“They let someone know that somebody was thinking of them, and that’s important,” That makes your whole day. They’re bright and cheerful…and who doesn’t love flowers?”

Pam’s Petals is open Monday through Friday from 9:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. The shop is open most Saturdays from 12:00 p.m. – 2:00 p.m. Pam’s Petals also offers delivery.

For more information on Pam’s Petals, visit the shop’s website or Facebook page or call (906) 553-7276.
