MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Marquette Downtown Development Authority is shining a spotlight on small business’ with restaurant week. This year, a local Italian restaurant is bringing back an old favorite as its dinner special.
Casa Calabria is running a special all week that General Manager and Chef Jimmy Johnson says used to be an old favorite on the menu.
“This year for restaurant week we’re doing Calabrian Chicken,” said Johnson, “We used to have it on our menu everyday, it’s bone in chicken, pan fried and finished in the oven with a parmesan oregano crust.”
For $21.99, the dinner special comes with a maple bacon salad with a caramelized onion and basil pesto vinaigrette. For dessert Casa has two options: A Macedonia fruit salad infused with an Italian liqueur, or a strawberry cannoli.
Casa Calabria also be running a drink special for the week, The Lucky Luciano, which Johnson says is an Old Fashioned with an Italian twist.
Johnson said restaurant week is always a fun opportunity to come up with a new dish or revisit old ones to bring them back for the public.
“It gave us the opportunity, and I believe other restaurants as well, to put different twists and dishes on their menu,” Johnson said, “That become routine things that people can go get after restaurant week as well.”
