Super Bowl LVII preview

STATE FARM STADIUM

GLENDALE, Ariz. (WZMQ) – This year’s Super Bowl is set to be an exciting one. The game will see two premier quarterbacks. Patrick Mahomes for the Chiefs and Jalen Hurts for the Eagles.

The game will be the first time in Superbowl history that two black quarterbacks face off against one another. When asked about the the historic matchup Jaylen Hurts said “When you talk about some so historic, something that I mean it, it’s a big deal because nobody’s used to it, and … that’s the reality of it, so to go out there, and to be of encouragement to anyone watching knowing that it can be done, and anyone can be on this platform, anyone can have these opportunities. I see it as an opportunity to honor everyone that has come before me, all seven quarterbacks that have come before Pat and I, including Pat or myself, and give encouragement to the future, you know I’m saying. I know there are a lot of kids that have aspirations to play whatever position or do whatever it is and a lot of people make something they can’t do, but they can.”

It will also see another super bowl first as brothers Travis and Jason Kelce will be lining up against one another. Travis as a tight end for the chiefs and older brother Jason as a center for the Eagles.

The Eagles have been a powerhouse this season  finishing the year as the number 2 defense and the number 2 offense. Philadelphia has outscored opponents in the postseason 69-14. Jalen Hurts has thrown for less than 155 yards in each of the eagles playoff victories. but with receivers like AJ Brown and DeVonta Smith if he has the chance, he should be able to air the ball out successfully on Sunday.

The Chiefs offense will have their hands full facing off against the Eagles defense. But Patrick Mahomes has led his team to over 5000 passing yards this season which is the league best by a decent margin. Mahomes will be looking to target Travis Kelce, something he’s familiar with. The tight end leads Kansas City in receiving yards and has 3 touchdowns in the last 2 games. Kansas City also has receiver juju smith schuster who was right behind Kelce in the regular season and is sure to have an impact during the super bowl.

The Super Bowl kicks off in Arizona at 6:30 on Sunday night.
