ISHPEMING, MICH. (WZMQ) – The Great Lakes Recovery Center’s LIVE Art & Word Contest applications are closing next week.
It’s the centers West End Suicide Prevention group’s third year hosting the contest. The idea started with a high school student who wanted to create a way for students to showcase work they wouldn’t normally have the opportunity to display.
The contest includes visual arts, written word, and song dance and theater submissions.
Amy Poirier, Community relations and marketing director with the recovery center, said this contest gives kids an outlet to express their feelings through art or through word or song, and it also showcases talented kids across The UP.
Organizers are still looking for expert judges to help with the contest. If you have experience in the visual arts, written word, or song, dance, and theater, and would like to assist with judging the contest, you can email wesp@greatlakesrecovery.org
The application deadline is Wednesday, February 15th. For more information on how to submit student works you can visit Greatlakesrecovery.org/live-art-word
