ISHPEMING, Mich (WZMQ) – The Ski and Snowboard Hall of Fame Museum in Ishpeming received around $200,000 in donations from two board members. The 32-year-old building is the national museum for those inducted into the hall of fame.
In need of repairs, the Executive Director of the Museum Justin Koski comments that the building needs a roofing replacement.
“Skiing is and was a really big part of the founding cultural pieces of the area”, said Koski.
In addition to the endowment fund, the museum was able to receive around $60,000 from MACC Grants (Michigan Arts and Culture Council). Koski noted that history is a crucial part of learning and is happy to present when the schools in the area take field trips to the museum.
“Ya know having the kids the second-grade classes from the community schools touring and field tripping here to learn about why this building is here and not Vail Colorado is an important piece of history to understand”, continued Kosky.
