SKANDIA, Mich. (WZMQ) – A new playground could be coming to a Marquette County community, but the Township needs help raising the money for it. It’s been a community effort to raise the money for something that they feel would mean a lot to them.
Brandon Bray, “The idea is to bring that kind of old school community togetherness back, the small-town togetherness, doing outdoor events. Doing positive things for the community and each other and yeah, we are really proud of that.”
After months of fundraising, Skandia Township already secured a 150-thousand-dollar Passport Grant from the DNR. The township now only needs 40-thousand dollars to meet its goal.
The Township hopes to break ground on the playground this summer once they have obtained total funds to pay for the projected scope of work. To help them get to this goal, Trustees created a GoFundMe account to collect donations.
