How To Keep Your 2023 New Years Resolutions

by Sophia Murphy

A A

2022 is finally over, and with the new year comes new routines!

Connor Ryan, Founder of The Unity Yoga Co-Op says he and the other Co-Op instructors are ready to help anyone with their 2023 wellness goals. We spoke with Ryan about the Co-Ops expectations for The New Year “We do see some new faces in The New Year just because there is kind of a newness and everybody is feeling like they’re ready to recreate and revamp their schedule, revamp their lifestyle, and we’re here to fully support that.”

Ryan says the new year is the season to set new goals, but the key to sticking to them is having a plan. “Goals are timely, and so making some kind of list right, so what I want to get done before the end of the day, what I want to get done before the end of the week even. Then you can reassess when that time comes to pass, and say ‘Am I going to keep this on the list, or does this not even matter?'”

According Marist Polls, around 40% of Americans say they set a new years resolution each year, but the same polls say only half of those who set resolutions said they had achieved their goals that year.

Ben Larsen a fitness coach at Anytime Fitness in Harvey says to set goals that realistic and enjoyable. “A good routine is one that’s realistic… to shoot for the stars, and while that’s really great for a long term goal, picking something that’s do-able and realistic is gonna make it easy to actually show up”

“Plant the seeds that we want to see grow in the summer, because they’re gonna take some time to germinate and this is the season that will help them kind of spread their roots.”

Connor Ryan

Both Ryan and Larsen say, setting those realistic goals with good intentions are what will keep your new routines going into the summer.
