MARQUETTE, Mich (WZMQ) – The art is back with the “First Thursday’s Art Tours”. The tours are happening from December 1st through the 30th and it gives the local artist an opportunity to showcase their work in the galleries around town.
One gallery on Third Street says this tradition, although wasn’t born in the Upper Peninsula, is certainly here to stay. “It’s just natural when your here and you get in all of this beauty. It’s just very inspiring and so it brings out that artistic expression in people and they want to capture it and they want to share it with other people”, says Owner of Wintergreen Gallery Laura Songer.
Other cities have similar events such as First Thursdays, however, visits to museums can be costly. Here in the U.P. all the galleries are free to view all the displays.
