Hundreds of families received free food packages Thursday morning in Ishpeming.
The Feed America West Michigan mobile food pantry handed out 350 food boxes containing, fruit, vegetables, bread and milk.
Feeding America volunteer stated the need for assistance has greatly increased and continues to grow.
Funding for this assistance comes from local businesses or are submitted to the county to find funding.
With an increased need for assistance comes an increased need for volunteers.
The food pantry provides this monthly first come first serve assistance on the 1st Thursday of the month.
The next panty is scheduled for October 6th beginning at 8:30am.
