Construction continues at the pier being built at Founders Landing

The city of Marquette will have a new public access point to lake superior soon when the Pier being constructed at founders landing is finished at the end of the month.

The Project which cost $5.7 million dollars, was brought on after the state told the city commission that they had to either remove the old dilapidated pier or rebuild a new one. The city decided to choose the latter and provide citizens with a new way to enjoy the lake.

The pier will include boat slips for day use, a kayak and boat launch, and bench’s to enjoy the views. Built in shade protection on the pier will allow for meeting areas that officials expect will be the most high traffic area of the new pier.

City Officials are hoping to have the pier finished at the end of September and have a ribbon cutting ceremony in mid October.
