Summer Tourist season in Marquette

by Sophia Murphy
June 29, 2022
A A

It’s summertime in Marquette, which usually means a growing number of tourists visiting the area. With COVID numbers dropping across the country, people are going back to their normal travel spots.

During the COVID-19 pandemic, The UP was a hub for safe socially distanced family vacations. Now that COVID anxiety is decreasing, so is the number of tourists.

It’s a return to a normal tourist season for The UP, but with inflation and Tax increases, people are ditching their cars for bikes and other forms of transportation. Anything to avoid paying the rising prices at the pump.

Grant Garvin, AirB&B manager comments on the changes he’s seen this summer season. While Bill Thompson, Co-Owner of Down Wind Sports, tells us how his business has been impacted.
