The Marquette Office of Arts and Culture was approved for a $100,000 grant from the National Endowment of the Arts (NEA).
Fifty-one grants were awarded by NEA nationwide to projects that use art, culture and design to enrich communities.
The grant will be used to support Marquette’s Cultural Trail initiative.
The proposed trail will run seven miles from the mouth of the Carp River to Presque Isle Park.
Organizers plan to use public art and design on the trail as a way to celebrate the region’s history and build cultural understanding.
