MARQUETTE, Mich, (WZMQ) – Ore Dock Brewing Company had a little extra community spirit Sunday afternoon.
United Way of Marquette County and Ore Dock teamed up for the inaugural Steins for Good, an Oktoberfest-inspired fundraiser that drew in community members for live music from The Knockabouts, a Stein holding contest, frozen shirt contest, pretzel eating contest, and locally brewed beer. Proceeds from the event support United Way’s work addressing food security, housing, youth opportunity, and other community needs across Marquette.
United Way of Marquette’s Executive Director, Andrew Rickauer, says the hope is that this is just the beginning. “We’d like to try and make it an annual event, peope are coming in and having a good time, they’re stopping in and staying as long as they can,” says Rickauer. “If we can keep this going, it would just continue to be a great way to raise some awareness and raise some funds.”
Raise a Stein, raise the community… Steins for Good hopes to return again next fall.
