NEGAUNEE, Mich. (WZMQ) – After a summer of installation, 19 Marquette County parks and playgrounds have become more non-verbal friendly.
Created in part by the U.P. Home Builders Association, Project Jade installs signs with several icons depicting actions and feelings, which can be helpful to non-verbal children.
Each board is also sponsored by a local organization. On Tuesday, one of the final installations was placed at Bernie Rivers Memorial Park in Negaunee, and was presented by Joe Dost from Window Outfitters.
“This is a community park, any time you come down here during the summer months its filled with kids from around the area, and it’s great to be able to provide more opportunities for all kids to enjoy it,” he said.
