WILSON, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Hannahville Tribal Police Department is investigating a fatal vehicle-pedestrian crash that occurred on September 15.
At approximately 9:10 p.m., Hannahville Tribal Police Department officers were dispatched to an accident involving a 12-year-old who was struck by a vehicle. Lifesaving measures were performed at the scene. The child was transported to OSF St. Francis Hospital and later transferred to Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin, where he died from injuries sustained in the collision.
Although the investigation is ongoing, police say there is no evidence of negligence by the driver, who has been “fully cooperative.” The Hannahville Tribal Police Department extends its condolences to the families and community members impacted by the tragedy.
The Hannahville Tribal Police Department was assisted by the Menominee County Sheriff’s Department, the Delta County Sheriff’s Department, Michigan State Police Accident Investigators, the Harris Fire Department, U.P. Health Systems – Rampart, Menominee County Central Dispatch, and the Menominee County Victim Services Unit.
