MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – One of Marquette’s most beloved music shops turned nine years old today, and threw itself a party.
Yooptone music celebrated its ninth anniversary with the inaugural Yooptone Day at their North Third Street location, featuring tiny bench concerts from U.P. artists, a guitar pedal toss, a rockstar costume contest, free swag bags, and food from Midtown Bakery.
Many turned out throughout the day to celebrate the store that’s become a staple of the local music scene. Co-owner Jeff Krebs says what makes Yooptone stand out is that it’s really two stores in one. “I think our shop is really unique because we have two separate focuses, we’ve got the traditional music store with guitar, bass, drums, all the instruments, then we’ve also got the record shop,” says Krebs. “Sometimes we get a different crowd, sometimes the same crowd. We love records, we love guitars, and that’s what we cater to.”
Yooptone Music is located at 1015 North Third Street in the Village Shopping Center. More information can be found at www.yooptone.com.
