MENOMINEE, Mich. — A 45-year-old Menominee man has been arrested following an investigation into the alleged possession of child sexually abusive material.
Michigan State Police said Allen Kerby was arrested after an investigation by the MSP Computer Crimes Unit and the Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force.
The investigation began after the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children reported information indicating Kerby may have been in possession of illegal material online.
Investigators obtained a search warrant for Kerby’s residence and seized digital evidence as part of the investigation.
Kerby faces two counts of aggravated possession of child sexually abusive material and two counts of using a computer to commit a crime.
He was arraigned Wednesday, Aug. 26, in 95A Judicial District Court in Menominee County.
The investigation involved several agencies, including the Menominee County Prosecutor’s Office, Menominee Police Department, Homeland Security Investigations and the Menominee County Sheriff’s Department.
MSP officials are reminding parents to talk with their children about internet safety and to be aware of the potential dangers children can encounter online.
