BARAGA COUNTY, Mich. (WZMQ) – A 50-year-old woman is dead following a pedestrian-vehicle collision on August 10.
At approximately 10:20 p.m., troopers from the Michigan State Police Calumet Post responded to a crash on US-41 near the Baraga Lakeside Inn. The preliminary investigation indicates that as a vehicle driven by a 66-year-old man was traveling southwest on US-41, a woman entered the roadway on foot. The driver was unable to avoid the woman and struck her.
The woman was pronounced deceased at the scene. The driver of the vehicle was medically evaluated on site and released. Both individuals are from L’Anse.
The crash remains under investigation.
