HANNAHVILLE, Mich. (WZMQ) – The Hannahville Indian Community is just a few weeks into this year’s farmers market season.
Held every Thursday, the market takes place in the Hannahville Health Center Parking Lot from 11:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m. Eastern Time. Vendors offer a selection of produce, meats, eggs, syrup, honey, baked goods, and household items. Patrons can also participate in giveaways nearly every week.
According to Hannahville Health Educator and Market Manager Kelly Hansen, the market is a convenient way for locals to get fresh, locally sourced food.
“The closest grocery store is five, six miles down the road, and that’s Massie’s,” Hansen said. “If you want a bigger grocery store, they’d have to travel close to 20 miles to get access to those fresh fruits and veggies. I think this is really nice bringing it right here close to home.”
The Hannahville Farmers Market is open to the public and continues through October 1. The market will be closed on Thursday, August 20, for the U.P. State Fair.
