ISHPEMING, Mich. (WZMQ) – Ishpeming Public Schools honored some of its finest this evening at the 2026 ‘Halls of Excellence’ induction ceremony.
Hundreds of community members packed the W.C. Peterson Auditorium at Ishpeming High School to celebrate ten inductees, including individuals spanning generations. The honorees were recognized for their lasting contributions to the school and the broader Ishpeming community.
Among those inducted was longtime football coach Bernie Anderson, who summed up what the honor meant in just a few words. “I’ve always held the belief that your family, your siblings, and your education dictates who you are, what you are, and what you’re going to become,” says Anderson. “I’m blessed. I have the best family, I have the best education, and I’m proud to be a Hematite.”
The Halls of Excellence continues to grow, honoring the Hematite tradition, one class at a time.
