MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – After Marquette-based tech company Invivus Technologies created a website last year to help users find healthier indoor environments, a new app has been released for more accessibility.
The Innovate Marquette-backed program Moldmap works as a review platform for indoor air quality, and has boosted these data levels over its year of performance. Invivus Founder Justin Carlson says the new app is a large contender in its field.
“Currently there’s no way for people to track how they feel in different environments. It’s a really big issue, not just for mold, but for chemicals released by factories and plants,” he explained.
The free app allows users to leave reviews and track experiences of air qualities in currently over 120,000 locations in the country, as well as set filters to locate nearby hazards or concerns, including power plants or data centers. Carlson says this accessibility aims to build community among users.
“We want people when they go into the app, to be able to quickly and easily share their experiences with other people,” he said. “That community effect grows itself.”
Hotel and rental owners can also use the platform to keep up with their own properties, while making sure visitors have a broader idea of their own options.
“Our goal is to take that data and use it to build a prediction model that can help people, based on their specific and unique sensitivity level, be able to find places they can feel great,” he said.
The Moldmap app is available on both Apple and Android devices.
