MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – Marquette County Habitat for Humanity is building more than just a home this weekend.
The organization hosted its first Pride Build, a two-day event bringing together volunteers of all identities and allies to construct and affordable home in Harvey. Dozens of volunteers came out, no construction experience required, all in the name of building a safer, more inclusive community.
Community Programs Director Henry Morley says the mission behind it all stays the same. “We find a way to make sure that those who may need an extra invitation to be included in our programming and our mission to come out and spend some time with us,” says Morley. “Everybody deserves a safe, decent, affordable place to live, and this is just one more way that we can get everyone involved.”
For Habitat, every home built is a step toward a more inclusive community.
