MARQUETTE, Mich. (WZMQ) – The 2026 Made UP Outdoor Summit began its two day lineup Thursday morning at the Jacobetti Complex, in hopes to generate new concepts of outdoor recreation in the Upper Peninsula.
“This is essentially meant to bring people from across the region together to formulate a plan for handling our outdoor recreation assets moving into the future,” said 906 Adventure Team Director, Todd Poquette.
Organizations from all corners of the U.P. have come to discuss their ideas of adapting for the futures of sustainability, conservation, community, and adventure.
The event will focus on all of these points through seven speaker presentations and various group-work activities, designed to build new partnerships.
“Everything was randomized so people are with people they normally would not be with,” explained Poquette. “East, West, North, and South points across the U.P. are represented here today.”
The event’s organizers hope this experience will carry these new relationships to an even larger return in 2027, with plans for an expo in the spring.
The Made UP Outdoor Summit continues Friday, wrapping up with a tour of the 906 Adventure Team Basecamp and Gluski park. More information can be found here.
