ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – An Escanaba man is in custody following a drug bust by the Upper Peninsula Substance Enforcement Team (UPSET).
Over the last year and a half, UPSET detectives have been investigating the 34-year-old Escanaba man for distributing cocaine. The Delta County Prosecutor’s Office recently authorized a three-count felony warrant, leading detectives to arrest him at his home without incident. He was lodged at the Delta County Jail on a variety of drug charges.
Further investigation resulted in the seizure of more than two pounds of cocaine (just under a kilogram), a small amount of ketamine, and over $24,000 in cash. The cocaine, which has a street value of approximately $55,000, was located at a separate property in the City of Gladstone. The investigation is ongoing, and the Delta County Prosecutor’s Office is reviewing the case for possible additional charges.
UPSET was assisted by the DEA, Escanaba Public Safety – K9, Delta County Sheriff Department, MSP Gladstone Post, Gladstone Public Safety, MDOC probation/parole, MSP TSU, and the Michigan Intelligence Operations Center.
