ESCANABA, Mich. (WZMQ) – With warmer temperatures gradually making their way to the U.P., it is time once again for the Escanaba Kiwanis Club’s Spring Expo.

The annual event kicked off Friday afternoon. More than 50 vendors have their products on display inside the Ruth Butler Building at the U.P. State Fairgrounds.

“If you’re looking for a contractor to do some work on your house or if you’re looking for a new tractor or something like that, we probably have it here,” said expo co-chair and Escanaba Kiwanis board member Michael Markwell. “We have American Metal Roofs here. We have Mancave Dave. Revived Sleep Systems is here. Quality Water Specialists, they do hot tubs. We have a lot of roofing, siding, and window companies.

The event is free to attend, aside from pancake breakfasts on Saturday and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Proceeds from the breakfasts will support the Kiwanis Club’s community outreach efforts.

“One of the things we do is we’re able to give out funding to other organizations and projects to work with youth,” Markwell said. “This is our big fundraiser for the year. It’s the only thing we do to help be able to distribute that money.”

The Escanaba Kiwanis Spring Expo continues on Saturday from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. and Sunday from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. From 4 p.m. to 6 p.m. on Saturday, the expo will feature a free kids’ carnival for families with activities, games, prizes, and food. Food trucks will also be on site throughout the day on Saturday.
