GARDEN TOWNSHIP, Mich. (WZMQ) – A man from Rapid River was arrested for multiple felony offenses, including drug and weapons charges.
On March 29, a trooper from the Michigan State Police (MSP) Gladstone Post was patrolling LL Road in Garden Township. He saw a man with an active arrest warrant riding a bicycle. The trooper saw the man, identified as 28-year-old Michael Riggers, cross the intersection of LL Road and US-2 without stopping.
The trooper initiated a traffic stop. Riggers initially ignored commands to stop, riding to a nearby residence before complying. The trooper then took him into custody for the warrant.
During the investigation, troopers discovered Riggers was carrying a concealed pistol without a license. He was also in possession of methamphetamine, as well as prescription pills that were not prescribed to him. A search of the Riggers’ residence resulted in the seizure of another pistol, 14 long guns, and additional methamphetamine. One of the rifles recovered had been reported stolen in 2016.

On March 30, Riggers was arraigned on charges of possession of methamphetamine, carrying a concealed weapon, maintaining a drug house, possession of analogues, and resisting and obstructing a police officer. His bond was set at $25,000 cash/surety, and he is scheduled to appear in court again on April 9.
MSP was assisted in this case by the Delta County Sheriff’s Office.
